I love challenging myself by writing to a daily prompt, but some of the prompts are written better than others. I am curious why we are getting so many prompts that could be answered with a single word. Why is that?
So, in the spirit of doing better, here are some ideas on how we could improve this prompt:
Good
- Have you ever gotten hurt while playing? What happened?
- Write about a time when you had to visit the doctor. How did you feel?
- Imagine you fell and hurt yourself. What did you do next?
Better
- Describe an experience when you or someone you know broke a bone. How did it impact daily activities?
- Think about a time when you were injured or sick. How did you cope with the situation, and what did you learn from it?
- Write a story about an accident that led to a broken bone. How did it change the person’s life temporarily or permanently?
Best
- Explore the psychological and emotional journey of a character who experiences a serious injury, such as a broken bone. How does this event alter their perspective on life and relationships?
- Write a reflective essay on the fragility of the human body, using a personal or fictional experience of breaking a bone as a starting point. Consider themes of vulnerability, resilience, and recovery.
- Create a narrative that intertwines the physical pain of a broken bone with a metaphorical or emotional break in the protagonist’s life. How do these parallel experiences influence the character’s growth and transformation?
