Treasure hunts, dance away,
Obstacle courses, wild horse play.
Balloon keep-up, hula hoop,
Jump rope jumps, and scooter loops.
Tag you're it, hopscotch flips,
Water balloons, hands on hips.
"Jump high, bend low,"
Because Simon says so.
Nature walks, build forts high,
Paddleboards under the sky.
Volleyball,sandy beach,
Snowball fights on unplowed streets.
Skipping stones, kites in flight,
Through the day to starry night.
In this rhythm, we will find,
Exercise of the most fun kind.

“Exploring Creativity with List Poems

List poems transform simple enumerations into captivating journeys, making the mundane magical through rhythm and connection. This poetic form turns lists into art, evoking emotions and painting vivid imagery by cataloging thoughts or observations in a compelling sequence.

Do you have other ideas for list poems? Whether it’s the small joys of daily life, a catalog of imaginary places, or a sequence of moments captured in time, I’d love to hear your thoughts and help you craft a poem that celebrates the art of listing.

I really hate talking about myself, but if I have to... I’m K.L. McDaniel, the person behind TheOtherKLM. I’m an introvert with extrovert moments, a fitness-minded person fighting later-age fat, and someone trying to keep life somewhat organized without pretending it isn’t a mess. Here, I write about the things I keep coming back to: movement, mental health, learning, self-awareness, and the strange little contradictions that make people interesting. I’m not here to act like I have everything figured out. I’m here to think through it, laugh when possible, and maybe find a little balance in the middle of the clutter. So, that’s me. More or less.
