The Spring
Home and Garden Show
beckons this weekend’s glow.
As I roam,
dreaming of home’s
potential,
Whoa!
I tally costs
of glossed hardwood floors,
doors reformed,
and windows to guard
against winter chill’s scorn.
A westward sunroom,
where dusk’s goldlight blooms,
And a patio full of fragrant plumes.
A south-facing deck
and grilling nook
built to spec.
A backyard haven,
a tool-rich Me Shed,
vegetable beds,
neatly pruned,
desert sands
with wandering paths,
luxury lavatories,
and bubble baths.

Yet, my checking account
sings a different tale,
dreams of splurging,
in shopping spree quelled,
to transform
my humble
home and garden.
