I have a hard time narrowing my list down to just ten, but I will try.

  1. The one about the underdog sports team full of lovable losers. Somehow they win the championship. I like it because nothing says believable like a bunch of underachievers who couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat suddenly becoming world champs after one pep talk from a guy in a tracksuit. It’s like watching Congress pass a law that actually makes sense—unlikely, but strangely satisfying.
  2. The one with the brooding hero. Of course he has a tragic backstory, which we’ll only learn about during slow-motion flashbacks. I like it because who doesn’t love spending two hours watching someone stare moodily into the middle distance, quietly brooding over a past trauma that, let’s face it, we’ll probably never fully understand? It’s like watching cable news—lots of drama, very few answers.
  3. The one where an average person stumbles into a dangerous situation and somehow becomes a world-class action hero overnight. I like it. It’s comforting to believe that if I ever find myself in a high-speed car chase, my years of sedentary office work will naturally translate into elite driving skills. If only parallel parking worked the same way.
  4. The one where a mysterious stranger shows up at just the right moment, drops some cryptic advice, and then vanishes like Batman at a rooftop party. Who doesn’t enjoy a little deus ex machina with their popcorn? Nothing like a character who has all the answers but leaves you with more questions than a political debate.
  5. The one where two people keep bumping into each other in increasingly ridiculous places. They fight until they finally realize they’re in love. I like it because apparently, the key to romance is a series of highly improbable coincidences and an airport chase. Makes me wonder if I should spend more time hanging around terminals with a boombox and a lot of optimism.
  6. The one where good and evil face off in an epic battle. The fights come complete with stirring speeches and conveniently-timed reinforcements. I’s nice to see a world where the good guys are always good, the bad guys are always bad, and everyone delivers their lines like they’re auditioning for Shakespeare in the Park. It’s like a morality play, but with explosions.
  7. The one where the hopeless underdog somehow wins it all after a montage of sweat, tears, and questionable training techniques. I like it because if I’ve learned anything from this, it’s that life’s problems can be solved with a montage and a killer soundtrack. I’m just one power ballad away from success. I can’t wait till John Williams composes my theme song?
  8. The one where someone gets tossed into a world they know nothing about and hilariously fails until they accidentally become the hero. There’s nothing more reassuring than watching someone bumble their way through life and still end up saving the day. It’s like watching a politician navigate a press conference—awkward, baffling, and yet somehow they come out looking like a hero.
  9. The one with the star-crossed lovers who go through every possible obstacle before finally ending up together—if only for a brief moment. I like it because romance is suffering through decades of heartache and misunderstandings, only to finally get together right before one of them gets tragically taken away. It’s like a rom-com, but with more death. You know, fun!|
  10. The one with plot twists so wild it makes you question everything you just watched—and maybe your own life choices. I like it because there’s something deeply satisfying about realizing I’ve been duped for two hours. It’s like buying a used car that seemed perfect, only to find out it’s actually a bicycle.
