“Good farmers, who take seriously their duties as stewards of Creation and of their land’s inheritors, contribute to the welfare of society in more ways than society usually acknowledges…”

— Wendell Berry

A solemn duty:
Replenish what we squander
Refill deepening drought
As sacred streams drain away
Once-fertile fields die dry
And soil cracks beneath barren sky.

We must give more than we take.
We must mend what we wound.

Earth begs a steady stream
Her thirst can no longer wait
Let’s sow what roots take hold
Until parched earth learns to breathe new rain

We must feed Earth's hunger.
We must quench her thirst.
We must rescue each vital source.

Making Sustainable Shifts

Sustainable change starts with simple decisions. You don’t have to do everything at once. Start by using less water, planting things that grow well in your region, or composting food scraps. Small choices made consistently can lead to a more balanced way of living with the land. The goal is progress, not perfection.

I really hate talking about myself, but if I have to... I’m K.L. McDaniel, the person behind TheOtherKLM. I’m an introvert with extrovert moments, a fitness-minded person fighting later-age fat, and someone trying to keep life somewhat organized without pretending it isn’t a mess. Here, I write about the things I keep coming back to: movement, mental health, learning, self-awareness, and the strange little contradictions that make people interesting. I’m not here to act like I have everything figured out. I’m here to think through it, laugh when possible, and maybe find a little balance in the middle of the clutter. So, that’s me. More or less.
