Illustration of a wide-eyed child holding hands over mouth in a vintage 1950s style, reminiscent of Dick and Jane books.
Caught in the Act: A nostalgic glance back to the 1950s with this playful illustration of a wide-eyed child.

Nope.
Not gonna spell it.
Not gonna whisper it.
Not gonna give it lift.
Bans, however, breed intrigue.
Why give it air?

Uttering that word:
It’s not my style,
And slipping from my tongue
It likely never will.
That word:
Common and crass;
Second class.
Wishing for more expressive swells
Beyond the base.
I hope to inspire
Higher thoughts through
Lifted language.
Lifted high
Above mucky verbal mire.

Nope
Don’t wanna ban it.
Don’t wanna fan it.
Don’t wanna make it
Disappear.
It’s freedom’s oath,
To which I swear.

I really hate talking about myself, but if I have to... I’m K.L. McDaniel, the person behind TheOtherKLM. I’m an introvert with extrovert moments, a fitness-minded person fighting later-age fat, and someone trying to keep life somewhat organized without pretending it isn’t a mess. Here, I write about the things I keep coming back to: movement, mental health, learning, self-awareness, and the strange little contradictions that make people interesting. I’m not here to act like I have everything figured out. I’m here to think through it, laugh when possible, and maybe find a little balance in the middle of the clutter. So, that’s me. More or less.
