A poppy thrives under difficult conditions amongst noxious weeds and dry winds.

Poetry Challenge:
Plant a Metaphor

Write your own metaphorical poem in 5 simple steps:

  1. Choose something natural.
A weed, a stone, a storm cloud, a wildflower; anything with texture and character.
  2. Think beyond the obvious.
Ask: What could this represent? Is your vine a lie that grows? Is your moss a quiet memory?
  3. Stick to a mood.
Courage, regret, longing, defiance… let the feeling shape your imagery and tone.
  4. Use simple, strong language.
Don’t dress it up too much. Let the metaphor carry the weight.
  5. End with impact.
Leave your reader with a moment, a twist, or a truth they’ll carry with them.

Post your poem or a link to it in the comments.
