Banning books

And boycotting social-emotional needs
Of our children
You tweet about the border crisis
Broadcasting questions that agitate hate
While preachers shout to congregations
Proclaiming liberals must be destroyed
Shouting “you ain’t seen an insurrection yet!”

Children are caught
In the crosshairs
Innocent victims
Of political rage
We don’t need
